Spooky Halloween!

Spooky Halloween!

Oct 30 , 2020

It's here! Tomorrow will be Halloween! We gave away a whole bunch of Teal Pumpkins earlier this month and hope our friends all over the country will have an opportunity to show them off- but everything is so up in the air this year.

Will there be trick or treating in your community? If so, how will it be handled? Are people going to show up at the door with masks over masks? Will there be a sudden rush to put together ziplines to accommodate social distancing disbursement of treats straight into those teal buckets? During Lunch'N Watch this week we talked about adaptation to holiday rituals from the East Coast to the Mountain West and beyond.

A cartoon a friend shared today shows a couple ghosts saying, "Nothing spooks them this year." It seems we have become so accustomed to adapting to new and continually changing circumstances around the country and indeed the world, that we may all be immune to being spooked by anything else at this point. Fittingly, any strange occurrence - like a friend suddenly losing the diamond from her wedding ring- is chalked up as just one more reason for 2020 to go bye-bye.

Coronavirus spiking again, wildfires forcing living creatures of both two and four legs from their homes all over the West, a political environment that results in friends losing friends, businesses closing and people being placed on furlough or worse. The list is long- longer maybe than Santa's list of good boys and girls.

And speaking of Santa, let's not forget the rest of the year and the holidays that are to come- holidays many of us are already lamenting because we are unable to be with our family and friends like we have in years past. Everything is up in the air not just through holidays but going into the next year.

In the meantime, we have become creative in our ability to adapt. But some are doing better than others. If you know someone who is struggling right now, out of work or illness in the family, recently diagnosed with celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, or food allergy, kids trying to do school from home... Let's all reach out and make sure we're shoring each other up even as we take care of ourselves. It's rewarding to be able to help someone else in need, and can be a good distraction from our own problems- or at least a good way to remind ourselves of our own strengths and resilience.

Over the rest of this year we'll be reaching out to you, and we hope you'll check in with us on social media, Lunch'N Watch live stream in the chat bar, by dropping in to grab wholesale cases in our Bakery Sale, letting us know what you like about us and what you'd like to see us do better. We'll be hosting a focus group later on this fall, and invite you to be in touch to participate if you'd like to provide input on how you'd like to see us focus our weekly live streams to better suit you and your interests and needs. We'll be opening this opportunity up to 16 participants, and will thank you for your input with goodies and a grand prize.

If you are not subscribed to our newsletter to receive the invitation, you should be! We send the newsletter at the beginning of each month. Click the button on our Facebook page or sign up on our website. Not only will you receive an invitation to the focus group, but every month we let you know about events, news, and specials you can take advantage of, along with tidbits that will help you get to know us and our products and mission a little better.

Happy Halloween.

Be well.
