Here come the holidays...

Here come the holidays...

Nov 06 , 2020

Halloween has passed us. We received zero trick-or-treaters this year. Downtown Halloween, in which stores provide treats and kids- and adults!- dressed in costume parade through town collecting while friends gather at the coffee shop to observe was cancelled this year. And here come the rest of the holidays- family celebrations that this year are up in the air.

Will you be changing your plans this year? I will. Accustomed to hosting a gathering of "strays," those in our friendship circle who do not have family in town and for whatever reason- sometimes winter weather- are around, this year the large turkey I have on order will have far fewer mouths to feed.

But we are ready. We would like to invite you once again to join Team Gem City Fine Foods in the CDF Turkey Trot happening next weekend. We also invite you to join us in our upcoming Lunch'N Watch live streams (which you can participate in on Facebook Live, or watch later on Vimeo.) These take place every Wednesday at 12:15 MT.

On November 18 we are excited to talk with Ashley of Wyoming Foodbank of the Rockies about hunger initiatives here. This is an important time of year- as is any, IMHO- to shed light on hunger and how we can help in even the smallest way to make sure people in our community are fed, whether a turkey and the fixings or simply the essentials.

And on the day before Thanksgiving, we will go live with Amanda from Eat at Our Table, our gluten free blogger friend in Miami, FL. Thanksgiving is among her favorite holidays, and she'll be sharing tips for enjoying a safe and tasty gluten free Thanksgiving. We would love for you to be part of this special celebration by sending photos, recipes or stories to share to, or simply show up and chat with us in the chat bar live!

And we have more coming in December, but let's all breathe and get through November first. This holiday season will be strange and difficult for more of us than ever.

Speaking of breathing and taking care of ourselves as well as each other, here is a video from October 28 Lunch'N Watch, in which I caught up with my sister-in-law, who is a long-time community health and fitness guru, sharing tips and reminders: Lunch'N Watch Oct 28.

If you would like to join the focus group we're convening to learn your preferences for topics and guests for next year's Lunch'N Watch line up, please email me directly at The meeting will take place via Zoom and will last for about an hour, with good conversation and goodies to thank you for your contribution. The focus group will be held later this month or in early December, so please be in touch soon!

As always, the team at Gem City Fine Foods strives to provide the celiac, gluten sensitive and food allergic community, family and friends with delectable desserts. We strive to be a beneficial part of that community in other ways. We do care about you.

With continued commitment, and wishes for a peaceful and stress free Thanksgiving,
